CAP Members: Our CAP members need help after Hurricane Sandy

Nov
03

From the Commander,

As PA Wing's participation in an official capacity winds down in the aftermath of Super Storm Sandy, I would like to thank everyone for their diligence, unwavering commitment and execution.  Whether you flew missions, worked in operation centers, provided leadership in key roles or were standing by for ground team missions, your participation was critical and well executed. As always, you proved yourselves once again to be a vital part of our community.

Although the "official" part of our mission is tapering down we have yet another mission - our commitment to each other. We have many members in our community that are still without power, work, food, and housing with temperatures forecast to drop below freezing in the upcoming days.

We will use the Wing Facebook page and website as a way for those who need help, to reach out to our fellow CAP members who may be able to provide support.

This support could include shelter, blankets, sleeping bags, food, warm clothes, flash lights, batteries, generators or just a kind word of encouragement.

Let's all do our best to reach out to each other in this time of need.

Thank you
Col Brandon

Congratulations to our prestigious National award winners!!!!

Thank you for exemplifying what excellence through a spirit of service is all about!! Your passion
for serving our cadets, missions, community, state and nation show through in all you do. I hope I can articulate my thanks and appreciation to you as well as you articulate the message of CAP through your public affairs work.

Maj Carlson, thank you for leading this wonderful team of PAO's and officers as well as developing a first rate PAO program in PA Wing (Highly Successful shows here in practice not just inspection!).

"If you could only sense how important you are to the lives of those you meet;
How important you can be to the people you may never even dream of. There is
something of yourself that you leave at every meeting with another person".
-Fred Rogers

You not only leave something great of yourselves with others but  also leave with them the greatness of CAP! Thank you for all you do!

I am proud to call PA Wing my home and to work with such exceptional officers and cadets!!

Congratulations Pennsylvania Wing Members!

Compliance Inspection Graded
"Highly Successful"

7 May 2012

Team CAP Pennsylvania:

I am excited and pleased to announce that Mission 4: Excellence Through a Spirit of Service, played out over the past three days, as the CAP Pennsylvania Wing underwent their Compliance Inspection resulting in a top grade of "Highly Successful". Results included 39 "Commendables" and 3 "Benchmark Candidates"

Earning this top level performance rating can only be attained through teamwork, determination, and a passion for excellence. I am thankful and proud to work with such an incredible group of officers and cadets.

A special thank you to all of our dedicated Wing Staff Officers, whose passion for excellence and diligence to duty was demonstrated over these past months as we prepared for and successfully executed this inspection. Thanks also goes to our commanders throughout the wing whose dedication drives superior performance in our units.

Going forward we have many additional opportunities to continue to serve with excellence and I look forward to an incredible summer filled with great cadet activities, senior officer training, and continued service to our community, state, nation and each other.

With my deepest gratitude for your service,

Col Brandon

Commander

About the Wing Compliance Inspections:

CAP Wings undergo this inspections every four years, checking each wing's mission critical readiness and organizational effectiveness and efficiency while also looking at the ability to manage and implement all three of CAP's core missions - emergency services, aerospace education and cadet programs.

Four possible grades are possible: Highly Successful, Successful, Marginal and Unsatisfactory.

Highly Successful means that the wing's performance or operations go above and beyond standards, exceeding mission requirements.

Lt Col Bruce Brinker

Lt Col Bruce Brinker
18 Feb 1951 - 3 Apr 2012

It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that I convey to you the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Lt Col Bruce Brinker, following a heroic battle with cancer.

Bruce will be remembered fondly as a loving husband, father, grandfather and by all of the officers and cadets of Pennsylvania Wing as a kind and gentle leader who inspired generations of young men and women to great success.

Col Brinker served his community and others in many important ways, but he will most notably be remembered for his service to our cadets as the Pennsylvania Wing Director of Cadet Programs and the former Hawk Mountain Ranger School Commander.

The kindred spirit of a great leader never leaves us. When you feel a helping hand or a gentle push forward, know that he is with you. The song you hear in the wind is our encouragement to live as he did, with laughter in his heart, honor in his soul, never-ending courage, and an endless love for others that defies the test of time.

Rest in Peace Bruce,

Col Sandra E Brandon

Commander, PA Wing
