Pilot Information File (PIF)

Overview: PA Wing uses electronic pilot records.  It is each pilots responsibility to enter his or her records into their PIF.  The following is a list of the MINIMUM documents that must be included:

  • FAA Pilot Certificates (both sides)
  • Medical Certificate
  • Current Flight Review
  • Initial Form 5 in each aircraft
  • Current Annual Form 5
  • Questionnaires (each aircraft qualified to fly)
  • Current Form 91

Note: Items that are completed using the eServices on-line system (Eg: Statement of Understanding, 60-1 Exam) are already stored and are not required to be uploaded or validated.

 

The data is entered into the PIF using a 2 step procedure:

1.  Upload the source document.

2.  Request validation/approval

Step 1:  First the Pilot must upload the source document into the PIF.  This is accomplished by selecting the View/Upload Documents link.

Step 2:  The pilot must request Validation and Approval of the task by following the procedure as follows:
 
Pilot Data Entry
 
The “OPS Qual Pilot ” entry application is used to enter any Pilot Qualifications or Tasks you have completed.  The Pilot section is divided into the following Modules
 
FAA Requirements. Used to enter all required FAA Pilot tasks.
 
Check-ride/Questionnaires
Airplane Used to enter an Airplane Form 5
 
Glider Used to enter a Glider check-ride
 
CAPF 91 Used to enter a CAPF 91 MP Check-ride
 
 
Enter FAA Requirements
 
a. Click on all “Check boxes” for all FAA Certificates that apply.
 
b. Enter the “Flight Instructor Expiration Date”. For CFIs and CFIIs
 
c. Click on all “Check boxes” for all Instructor ratings that apply.
 
d. Click on the “Check box” for the FAA Medical or FAA Special Medical that applies.
 
e. Click on [Class] 1, 2 or 3
 
f. Enter the [Date of Examination] of the FAA Medical.
 
g. If it is a Special Issue FAA Medical, enter the [Special Medical Expiration Date].
 
h. Enter the [FAA Flight Review Date] of the last FAA Flight Review.
 
i. Click on “Submit”. All FAA pilot tasks will be submitted for Validation.
 
Enter Check-rides and Questionnaires
 
This module is divided into three (3) sections:
1. Airplane.
2. Glider
3. Form 91.

Enter a CAP Form 5 Airplane check-ride
 
a. Click on “Airplane or Glider”. The Check-ride/Questionnaires - Airplane page will appear.
A table of aircraft in which the member has taken Form 5 check-rides shows at the top
of the page. This table shows the date of an Initial Form 5, the expiration date of the
last Questionnaire for that aircraft, the expiration date of the last annual Form 5 in
that aircraft and the check pilot’s name.
 
b. The date of the last current CAPR 60-1 Exam Powered will be entered automatically.
 
c. Enter the [Airplane Questionnaire Date].
 
d. Select the “Questionnaire Aircraft Type”. Multiple aircraft types may be entered by
holding down CTRL and clicking the various types.
 
e. Click on the “Check box” for Annual and/or Abbreviated Form 5. The abbreviated
Form 5 is used when you have a current Form 5 in one aircraft,and take a second
check-ride in a different aircraft
 
f. Enter the [Form 5 Date] of the Form 5.
 
g. Select the “Form 5 Aircraft Type” in which the Form 5 is taken.
 
h. Select the “Check Pilot” who gave the Form 5 check-ride.
 
i. Click on the “Check boxes” for each of the Form 5 Endorsements completed.
 
j. Click on “Submit”. All Form 5 tasks will be submitted for Validation.
 
Enter a CAP Form 5 Glider check-ride
 
a. Click on “Glider”. The Check-ride/Questionnaires - Glider page will appear.
A table of aircraft in which the member has taken Form 5 check-rides shows at the top

Enter a CAP Form 91 checkride
 
a. Click on “Form 91”. The Checkride/Questionnaires - CAPF 91 page will appear.
 
b. Enter the [CAPF 91 Date] of the Form 91 checkride.
 
c, Select the “Check Pilot” for the pulldown list.
 
d. Enter the [Mission Check Pilot Checkout Date] for CAP Mission Check Pilot
Checkout if appropriate.
 
e. Select the [Check Pilot] from the pulldown list.
 
f. Click on “Submit” All Form 91 tasks will be submitted for Validation.
